。 (ECNS) -- A fire broke out early Thursday at a ground-floor commercial unit in Haigang District of Qinhuangdao City, north China's Hebei Province, killing eight people and injuring three others, local authorities said. The fire broke out at around 3:40 a.m., prompting firefighters, emergency responders, health authorities and police to rush to the scene for rescue operations, according to a statement from the district government. The flames were extinguished by 4:30 a.m. Eight people were killed in the fatal fire, while three others were taken to hospital for treatment. The injured are currently in stable condition, the statement said. An investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway, along with follow-up work related to the incident. 。
